SEALED WITH A RED LIP

posted by Elshane on Sep 10 2015, under Beauty

I've discovered a way to bring out my inner Blake Lively. Wear her favorite red lipstick!

How chic is the new edition of Colour Riche by L'Oreal Paris, naming each shade of new red lipstick after their gorgeous female brand ambassadors? Although I'm #teamBlake all the way, I will say that the Zoe (Saldana) deep vampy red is my new favorite fall hue.

With colors hand-selected by Blake, Zoe, Eva, Julianne, Liya, and Freida, it's easy to find your tone in the bunch.

The texture of these sticks is creamy-- somewhere in between shiny and matte. Easy to apply, but of course, like any bold red color, best for a short evening out to avoid a high maintenance night ahead! I love the Liya (Kebede) red for an afternoon lunch with the girls. Throw on a casual pair of aviator sunnies and let your red lips do all the talking. ;)

NAKED LIP GLOSS

posted by Elshane on Jun 8 2015, under Beauty

I have a confession. I have always {and will always} be a simple chapstick girl.

But this series of Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss kinda sorta maybe brought me to the dark side.

I love these glosses because they're so sheer so they really just accentuate your natural lip color and simply add a little sexy shine. They're not sticky {sticky lip gloss terrifies me}, and they're not creamy {creamy lip gloss reminds me of frosted lips from the 90's}. They're a perfect in between.

And, since they're labeled "nourishing" on the packaging, it makes me feel like I'm applying chapstick, after all! So, yeah... I'm into them. A lot.

GIVING BACK IS THE NEW BLACK

posted by Elshane on Apr 6 2015, under Beauty

For about a year now, I haven't gone a day without eyeshadow primer. Typically, it's Urban Decay's Original Primer Potion because, well, it's proven to be the best. But now that they've created the Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Enigma, a limited-edition neutral matte shade where 100% of your purchase price funds The Ultraviolet Edge, their global initiative to empower women, I haven't since turned my back to beauty for a cause.

I was recently at a fashion event in a circle of women discussing eyeshadow primers. I was impressed to hear that each of the five women applied it daily. And true it is-- for day or night-- an easy must. It's the perfect base coat for a long day of shadow, or just worn alone to give your lids a little glimmer of glamour.

GLITTER BEAUTY TRENDS: RUNWAY TO REAL LIFE

posted by Elshane on Feb 26 2015, under Beauty

There's something about New York Fashion Week beauty trends that always have me at hello.

This February on the New York runways, Rodarte adorned the bottom lids with a row of tiny Swarovski sparkles affixed by silver string. Ohne Titel took purple caviar microbeads (yes, the same beads we used to dip our gel nails into) to the next level by gluing them to the lower lids.

What I'm trying to say? If you don't have glue or dollhouse-sized tweezers handy in your makeup kit-- my solution is pretty.darn.perfect.

Introducing... my five minute Urban Decay fashion week eye. And no, this isn't a sponsored posts... I just live for this brand!

1. Start with the pinkish hue in the Naked On The Run palette (the one I describe in detail in this post). It's a good base eyeshadow color for all skintones. Natural yet noticeable.

2. Line the bottom lid with the Heavy Metal Liner.

3. Prime your lashes with the fabulously fun to apply white primer.

4. Top your lashes with Perversion, aka, Perfect Lashes.

5. Hit the town and have fun ;) <--- day or night, I actually prefer this look for daytime though.

CLEAN SWEEP: YOUR PERFECT FACE MASK

posted by Elshane on Jan 23 2015, under Beauty

Us #bosslady boos who work hard must always indulge in giving back to our bodies, particularly our skincare regimen. After a long day on set, I make sure to always exfoliate, use toner, and slap on a 20-minute moisture surge.

I recently discovered these (*wow alert, under $8 each) Dr. Jart + masks during New York fashion week, and quickly invited them into my bedroom. For the sake of my skin and yours, here's the gossip on their performance...

All That Lift & Firm:

This gel mask was by far the most fun mask to put on, but also the hardest. It comes in two separate parts, an eye mask, and then a lower face mask which they instruct you to stretch past your ears. I opted to just stick it to my cheeks because it seemed a bit cleaner, and worked just as well. The caffeine and aloe left my face feeling tight n' right! I would continue to use this mask once a week.

Brightening Infusion:

This gel mask is great to do with your significant other. It's easy to apply, feels so tight on the skin, and fits on all face types. It's targeted towards dark circles, dark spots, and uneven skintone. Basically, a Thursday night delight...

Water Replenishment:

This is the cotton sheet mask that I fell in love with during Fashion Week. It's easy to apply and left me feeling moisturized and refreshed because of the immediate cooling sensation from the allantoin and witch hazel. It's a bit messier than others, but fine if you're using it while laying in bed. Thumbs up.

I will admit I forced my husband to take a few photos of me in this mask for my blog and he was so horrified with the image of me as a mummified ghost that he refused to let me post them. They really did look that ugly. I recommend using this during some good ol' fashion alone time. And, yes I still have those photos and am proud of them.

Pore Minimalist:

This black, seaweed-like mask (filled with Korean charcoal and spearmint) was very exotic upon opening! It felt cold and soothing on my face, but slid around a bit while I watched TV. It's intended for large pores and I have very small pores so I didn't notice much of a difference the next morning. Worth a shot if you have large pores.

P.S.- Anyone notice this creative way of taking the photo of me in the mask? This was round two, after my scary round one photo shoot with the Water Replenishment mask. {#beautytestingproblems}

If you've tried a mask that you'd recommend, leave a suggestion in my comments section!

URBAN DECAY: NAKED ON THE RUN

posted by Elshane on Nov 19 2014, under Beauty

A Japanese, an American, a Russian, and an Armenian girl all walk into a bar...

Sounds like the first line of a dad joke, but it was actually just the start of our amazing #nakedontherun journey through New Orleans!

I was like a kid in a candy store this weekend, or better yet, in Elshane terminology, a fashionista at a Barneys warehouse sale when Urban Decay Cosmetics flew me across the country to New Orleans for three days and three nights to test out and experience their newest eyeshadow and beyond palette, Naked On The Run.

It began with four beautiful chicks who had never before met, bound together by a perfect square makeup box filled with 11 vegan, cruelty-free colors to paint our faces with. Our features couldn't have been more uniquely different, some heart shaped lips, some barely-there lips (tear...that's me); some almond-shaped eyes, and some big ol' bug eyes (again, that'd be me), but we put our own spin on the Naked On The Run palette as we toured one of the greatest cities I've ever explored. And to be honest? We looked HOT.

And so it went, the journey of experimenting with perfectly shimmery nudes, highlighting and contouring my oh-so-eager eyes, all while exploring my new favorite city. Come along on my visually telling photo journey with my three new friends...
